CHA’s Special Needs Fund
Our Special Needs Fund is a designated financial resource set up to help provide veterinary care for animals with specific, often more complex, medical requirements. These animals may have been rescued from situations involving abuse, neglect, or injury, or they might suffer from congenital or chronic health conditions that require specialized care. The fund ensures that these animals, who might otherwise be overlooked due to the high cost of treatment, can receive the medical attention they need to improve their health and quality of life.

Atlas
Atlas came to us as a stray and always had a little limp. Thanks to our Special Needs Fund, we were able to get him an X-ray, which showed he needed an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) surgery. This procedure removes the damaged part of the hip joint, allowing the body to form a “false joint” that relieves pain and helps the dog regain comfortable movement. With proper care and recovery, dogs like Atlas can live happy, active lives again.

Affie
Meet Affie, a 2-year-old Shiba Inu who came to us after a serious accident left her with a broken back femur. Her family did their best to get her initial vet care but ultimately couldn’t afford the surgery she needed, so they made the difficult decision to surrender her. Thanks to generous donors to our Special Needs Fund, we were able to provide Affie with the surgery she required. She is now recovered and in her new home!
