What We Do
-

Adoptions
At Chippewa Humane Association, our goal is to help every animal find their perfect home. We care for a wide variety of pets — from dogs and cats to pocket pets, reptiles, birds, and even the occasional chicken! Each animal that comes through our doors receives the care, love, and attention they need while they wait for their forever family. Our adoption process is designed to ensure the best possible match between pet and adopter, setting everyone up for success. Whether you’re looking for a playful puppy, a cuddly cat, a curious gecko, or a feathered friend, we’re here to help you meet your new companion and start your journey together.

Microchipping
Did you know that pets with microchips are far more likely to be reunited with their families if they ever get lost? Especially when their chip information is kept up to date. At Chippewa Humane Association, we offer microchipping services for just $15. All we ask is that your pet is current on their rabies vaccination and that you schedule a quick appointment. The process takes less than five minutes, and most pets barely notice it! Our team will guide you through setting up and registering your pet’s microchip to make sure your information is secure and accessible …giving you peace of mind and your pet the best chance of finding their way home
-

Surrenders
Chippewa Humane Association accepts animal surrenders from our contracted areas. We understand that making the decision to surrender a pet can be difficult, and our team is here to help. Please visit our Surrender tab to learn more about our process, requirements, and available resources. If you have questions or need guidance, our staff will be happy to discuss your situation and, whenever possible, help you find solutions that allow your pet to remain safely in your home.
-
Strays
Chippewa Humane Association works closely with local municipalities to provide safe shelter for stray animals found within our contracted areas. When a stray pet is brought to us, we hold them for the required stray hold period while we do everything we can to locate their owner. If you’ve lost a pet, please contact us as soon as possible. Provide a detailed description and a recent photo so we can help identify your animal. We also recommend checking our social media, local municipality pages, and community lost-and-found groups for updates. Our goal is always to reunite lost pets with their families whenever possible.

CHA Pet Supply Pantry
At Chippewa Humane Association, we believe no pet should go hungry or without basic care due to financial hardship. Through our Pet Supply Pantry, we provide pet food and essential supplies to help community members care for their beloved animals during tough times. The pantry is stocked as donations and supplies allow, and availability may vary. If you’re in need of assistance, or would like to donate to help keep our pantry full, please reach out to our team. Together, we can help pets stay happy, healthy, and at home with the families who love them.

Community Education and Outreach
Chippewa Humane Association is dedicated to building a more compassionate and informed community for animals and the people who love them. Through local events, school visits, social media, and community partnerships, we promote responsible pet ownership, spay/neuter awareness, and the importance of adoption. We also work to educate the public on animal welfare issues and provide resources to help keep pets safe and healthy. By engaging with our community, we aim to inspire kindness, understanding, and lifelong commitment to animals, both in our shelter and beyond.
